Top 3 Party Dresses Trends for 2012
There were three clear trends during the Spring/Summer ’12 shows, which were seen everywhere from London to New York, from Alexander Wang to Valentino. And these trends will influence your choice of party dresses. Whatever you opt for, make sure you choose a dress with a floral, an African or a paisley print. If you need some style inspiration here’s a look at what to look out for:
Floral Print
This trend is almost always in every Spring/Summer, but for 2012 floral print looks fresh and modern. Bold, mixed prints were seen at Sportmax and Mary Katrantzou whilst over at Valentino and Alexander Wang florals were in a much more understated monochrome. Take your pick for inspiration for your party dresses; you’ll be spoilt for choice!
African Print
Safari and animal prints are another trend that pops up time and again. This year is no exception with big cat spots and leopard print on party dresses. But think outside the box, as this year animal print has a fresh, new twist. Look to Proenza Schouler for inspiration with neon life-size zebra print, giving this old trend an edgier vibe. To nail this trend on a budget take a look at this aqua green leopard print dress by Motel at ASOS, priced at a very affordable $45.42.
Paisley Print
Finally, paisley is the new kid in comparison. Although it’s an iconic pattern with its roots in India, Paisley certainly hasn’t been seen on the catwalk for some time. For Spring/Summer paisley print was interpreted in a number of ways, including at Emilio Pucci where psychedelic paisley ranged from pink and scarlet to lime and turquoise and paisley printed cotton day dresses were a hit at Jil Sander.
So that’s the top three party dresses trends for 2012. Which print will you go for?
